Vinyl Vibes: Wolf Alice – New album, "The Clearing" 22 August 2025

Ellie Rowsell and co — aka Wolf Alice. Few bands manage to sound like everything and nothing else at once, but Wolf Alice do. The London four-piece bend grunge, shoegaze, and folk into something jagged, dreamy, and completely their own. They can whisper like a secret or roar like a storm, sometimes in the same track.

What YaraGlow Members Should Know 🎵

Formed in North London, Wolf Alice started small, dingy pubs, fuzzy EPs, and grew into one of Britain’s most exciting modern rock bands. Frontwoman Ellie Rowsell is the centre of gravity: fragile and feral in equal measure, with a voice that can sound like she’s singing from under water or standing on top of a mountain.

Their debut My Love Is Cool gave us “Bros” (a platonic love song disguised as a festival anthem) and “Moaning Lisa Smile” (fuzzy riot energy). Visions of a Life won the Mercury Prize with songs that swung between shoegaze daydreams and punk snarls. And Blue Weekend? A cinematic, shimmering, heart-on-sleeve masterpiece, the sound of a band levelling up.

Now they’re back with The Clearing, one of the most anticipated albums of 2025. Early hints suggest it’ll lean into their more atmospheric side, all layered guitars and mood, but still with that bite. Expect songs that make you feel like you’re floating, then punch you in the ribs.

Why we love them:

Wolf Alice give you permission to be messy and mercurial. Their music captures the contradictions of midlife too; softness and rage, nostalgia and ambition, tenderness and noise. They remind us you don’t have to pick one mood, one role, or one identity; you can hold them all at once.

At YaraGlow, we’re drawn to artists who can soundtrack both the school run and the midnight breakdown, who make songs you can cry to and then immediately dance to. Wolf Alice are exactly that: a band for the women who’ve lived enough to know that emotions never come one at a time.

Wolf Alice – Blue Weekend

YaraGlow members: let Blue Weekend be your companion for quiet revelations under streetlights, for those late-night notes to the self, or mornings when you want your feelings swept clean, but with a chorus that clings to your bones.

Final Note

Wolf Alice make music that feels like memory and adrenaline colliding. Their albums reward deep listening... headphones on, lights low, glass of wine in hand. The Clearing looks set to be another chapter in their shapeshifting career: bigger, bolder, still unafraid to be vulnerable. Perfect for the YaraGlow listener who wants music that’s both a mirror and a megaphone.
